How long are you walking for each day of your trek? During your trekking days you will be walking for 4 to 7 hours, depending on trails and altitudes with some rest and acclimatization periods. The daily routines begin at around 6 am with bed tea and washing water brought to your tent or rooms. After that you have to get packed promptly so that the Sherpas can start taking down the tents and your baggage while you are having breakfast. Morning walks are typically a relaxed 3 hours. Your party then rests for 1 to 2 hours for lunch. This is a good time to do your laundry, socialize, write in your daily diary etc. Lunch is followed by another 2-3 hours trekking to your evening stop, where tea, biscuits, beer and more await you. A few hours later comes dinner and evening activity: cards, games, pool, relaxation, bar etc.
Health facilities, hygenic conditions and risk of disease vary worldwide. The areas that Magic Himalaya Treks operate within are not affected by any kind of health hazard as long as you act responsibly. There are no statutory requirements unless you are arriving from an area designated as infected by cholera or yellow fever. We recommend vaccinations against polio, typhoid, tetanus and hepatitis A. please consult your doctor or vaccination center for up to date information.
Though malaria is not endemic in the Kathmandu valley, the mountains or the foothill region, it is advisable to take malaria prophylaxis if you are passing through India, Pakistan and / or Bangladesh. A combination of paludrine (proguanil) and chloroquine are recommended for these parts of south Asia. Sleeping tablets are very dangerous at high altitude as they have an effect on your respiratory system. Avoid sleeping tablets at high altitude.
Visas can be obtained from Nepalese embassies and consulates abroad as well as at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on arrival. Chinese citizens must obtain visas prior leaving their country. The visa fee for a single entry is US$30 for 60 days. Visas for an individual looking to secure 180 days in Nepal can be obtained for US$80. Sri Lankan Nationals can get Pilgrimage visas paying for US$10. Countries not allowed arrivals visas in Nepal are: Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan.
Do you tip in Nepal? Tipping, through not compulsory, is widely prevalent in Nepal. 10 percent VAT and 2.2 per cent tourist services fee is usually included in the bill. Waiters, bell boys and room maids would be happy to receive tips. Don’t give tips to taxi drivers. Give tips to private vehicle drivers only.
How much money should I take for a typical Himalayan trek? You should take about Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 or more if you intend to buy a lot of souvenirs or drink beer. The money you take on trek needs to be in fairly small denominations because many of the village shops will not have large amount to exchange. You should take one, two, five, ten, twenty, twenty five, fifty and one hundred rupee notes. You also need to carry tips for porters and trek leaders to give at the end of trek. It is customary to give 5 percent of the total amount paid for the trip.

Do I need to be insured to go trekking in Nepal? Before you take up a Himalayan vacation, you must purchase insurance. Your insurance policy should explicitly mention that trekking is covered and should be designed specifically with the needs of the adventure traveler in mind. in addition to the normal provisions within any travel insurance policy, your scheme should include reference to trekking, rafting, biking or any other activity involved in your trip. It is also important to include cover for helicopter rescue and repatriation. An additional cover may include special outbound missed departure extension cover–this provides valuable cover for flight departures missed due to delays or weather.

How many people can I take on a Magic Himalaya trek? We will take a maximum of 30 clients on a trip. There will be a local Sirdar (GUIDE) and Team of Sherpas to cater the groups needs.
You should aim to keep the combined weight of your check-in and cabin baggage to around 18kgs.
