Shanta Baniya MD, Trek Leader
Namaste: I am Shanta Kumar Baniya managing Director of Magic Himalaya Treks and expeditions. Magic Himalaya one of the Nepal leading mountaineering and trekking companies since 2013. I was born on Dhading districts, Fulkharka where Himalayan ranges are few hours of walk. I started working as a trekking porter in 2000 and started guiding in 2002. Before being a tourist guide I work in the hotel and had done the training in hotel management from RMTC.
At the beginning of his guiding career, he used to leads the trek that goes to the Annapurna region and Langtang Region. Slowly I started to guide in the Everest region and restricted areas such as Nar Phu, Manaslu, Mustang, Dolpa, etc. I am taken as an Everest Specialist since 2008 and worked in some of the biggest trekking company in Nepal. I did lots of camping treks in Manaslu, upper mustang, Kanhanjunga, Langtang, and many more areas.
During guiding time, I did lots of teahouses trek such as Everest base camp trek, Annapurna base camp trek, Annapurna circuit trek, upper mustang trek, Jomsom Muktinath trek, Mardi Himal trek, Ghorepani poon hill trek, Gokyo valley trekking, Manaslu Tsum valley trek, Makalu base camp trek, Kanchenjunga base camp trek. At the busiest season, I have been to some of the remote treks such as upper Dolpa trek, lower Dolpa trek, Rara lake trek, and Humla Limi valley trek.
Some of my favorites treks are Everest base camp combining with luxury options and yoga & meditation. I also like doing short and sweet Chisapani Nagarkot trek.
From Guiding to Operator
In 2014, MY self Shanta Baniya and My brother Nabin started its own company Called Magic Himalaya Treks and expeditions which provides its service of trekking, mountaineering. This company provides services in Nepal, Bhutan, India, and Tibet on clients’ requests. He is one of the best trekking operators and trekking leaders in Nepal. Now I operate all the activities in Nepal.
