The signs and symptoms of the altitude sickness are:

  1. Headache / Dizziness

Presentations for this sickness is to wear according to weather, drink and eat plenty, Walk slowly and climb high sleep low. Make sure you hydrate enough but avoid alcoholic drinks while on Everest high pass trekking.

Travel Insurance for Trekking

While trekking on elevations you need to have sufficiently protected travel insurance that covers emergency evacuation, lost items, liabilities, injuries, and medical treatment. Before moving to the trek ensure the insurance covers all activities in the Himalayas. We advise buying the best insurance online because the Gokyo Everest base camp trek has a high risk of suffering from altitude sickness and may have some other injuries.

Charging the Electronic Items

Hydroelectricity or solar sources are used to charge electronic items on Gokyo Everest base camp trek. On lower trail electricity is available in all towns but when you reach a certain point electricity is not possible so there we will charge on solar energy. Due to solar power, you may not have lights on your room so it’s worth taking headlamp. The camera, iPhone, batteries, iPod, phone, etc are possible to charge on tea houses and cost money according to full charge system or per hour basis. It is better to have our own charging device.

Drinking water on Gokyo Everest base camp trek

The mineral water is available in each and every tea house, lodges, and lunch stops. The safe drinking mineral water is making on the Everest region which avoids taking from Kathmandu city. While you go on higher elevations the safe drinking water may not available everywhere. On high elevations, the water gets frozen and hard to drink unless you mix it with hot or other normal water. Drinking frozen water will make you sick too. It was always better to have hot water in your bottle which makes you warm as well as save the environment from plastic bottles. Water Purification tablets, as well as pills, are ways to have safe drinking water. You can fill water from the kitchen with the help of a guide and get safe drinking water after using the medicine on it. This is very effective on high passes because you don’t have to carry many water bottles.
